Apart from Shramik trains which are being run by Indian Railway to help migrants reaching their homes, now IRCTC has allowed passenger train services from June 1 onwards. The Indian Railway will start operations of around 200 passenger train service from June 1. Reservation of these trains will be as per guidance and relaxations being provided by the government under phase 4 of the lockdown.
Online booking of these
passenger trains are available on the official website of IRCTC (Indian Railways
Catering and Tourism Corporation) and their mobile application. All reservation
centers are shut across the country after the COVID-19 pandemic. These railway
reservation centers will remain closed until further guidelines. The online reservation of the Shramik train is also beginning from May 21.
These passenger train
services will be in addition to the existing Shramik special trains and special
AC trains started by the Indian Railway earlier. Jan Shatabdi trains, Sampark
Kranti, Duronto Express, and other regular passenger trains are among those
trains which will ply from June 1. There will be no linen, blankets, and
curtains inside the trains.
Passengers with confirmed
railway tickets will be allowed to enter the railway station and will have to
follow rules and regulations mentioned by the Ministry of Railway. And after
arriving at the desired destination, passengers have to follow the health
protocols as prescribed by the state government and administration.
Keeping in mind all need
and conditions of passenger, tickets can be booked online through the IRCTC
website, CSCs, and ticketing agents.

Indian Railways has restarted passenger train operations from 12th May 2020, initially with 15 pairs of trains (30 return journeys). These trains are being run as special trains from New Delhi Station connecting Dibrugarh, Agartala, Howrah, Patna, Bilaspur, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Secunderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Madgaon, Mumbai Central, Ahmedabad and Jammu Tawi.
All passengers are hereby informed that downloading of Aarogya Setu App on their mobile phone that they are carrying along, is mandatory.
All Passengers to kindly note that on arrival at their destination, the traveling passengers will have to adhere to such health protocols as are prescribed by the destination State/UT. Click here to see state wise advisory on Arrival (As available). For other states, State Government websites may be visited to ascertain the same.
For trains canceled till 30th June 2020 by
Indian Railways, a full refund will be provided automatically by IRCTC. Users
need not cancel their e-tickets. Full fare will be credited back into users'
accounts from which payment was made.
Catering Service is not available and catering
charges not included in the fare.
No blanket and linen shall be provided in the
train.
There are Maximum Waiting List Limits in the PRS
booking system for which Waitlisted Tickets can be issued after all confirmed
tickets are exhausted. Your ticket booking request may get declined as the
Maximum Waiting List Limit may be reached in the booking system by the time
payment success response is received from your bank. In such a case, your
deducted amount will be refunded back, without any deductions, to your bank
account in 3-5 working days. Inconvenience caused is regretted.
