Chandra Taal Lake

Chandra Taal is one of the most beautiful lakes in Himachal Pradesh. Chandra Taal is located in Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh which is home of high peaks, huge glaciers, passes, monasteries, temples , lakes and also origin of two large rivers called Chandra and Bhaga. Both rivers meet at Tandi village of Lahaul and Spiti later assumes as river Chenab.

Beautiful Chandra Taal Lake is the source of river Chandra. Chandra means moon and tall means lake. Lake has 2.5km of circumferences and the crystal clear blue looking water attracts lots of nature lover, photographer and trekkers from all over world. Lake is situated at 4300 meters. This lake was discovered by traders from Tibet and Ladhak region who take night halt near the lake during their journey. But now because of its beauty lake is developed as a prefect tourist destination.

Chandra Taal lake is around 120 km away from Manali, but it takes around 5 – 6 hrs to reach due to bad road conditions. Route of Chandra Taal lake mostly remains open between the month of June to September depends upon the weather conditions. Few camping sites are available near lake, but due to limited accommodation maximum traveler visit this lake in a single day from Manali or Kaza.
